My name is Hez Graham and I studied printmaking and painting at Southern Oregon University in Ashland, Oregon. I am a mother and an artist with a strong interest in cultural anthropology. My artistic approach is characterized by a critique of positions of power from a feminist and Marxist perspective. Much of my influence is through my own cultural interactions. The use of symbolic imagery stems from my interest in semiotics which I believe is a vital part of cultural anthropology. Much of the imagery employed derives from popular culture, folklore and legend.
Currently, I am focusing on balancing my life as a new mom and artist. After a two year hiatus of traveling and working on the west coast, and then becoming a mother, I have decided to pursue my goal of completing 10,000 hours of art. Follow me on my journey of motherhood and artistic practice. I hope to be an inspiration to you.
